Douglas Hainsworth is the International Tourism Specialist and Deputy Team Leader of the Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth project supported by the Asian Development Back and the Ministry of Tourism Cambodia. He has been actively involved in supporting sustainable tourism development in the Greater Mekong Subregion for more that 15 years with experience in Viet Nam, Laos, China, Myanmar and Cambodia. He as worked for national governments, development partners that includes the UNWTO, UNESCO, ILO, GTZ, and SNV, as well as private businesses.
Douglas’ expertise areas include planning and policy development, institutional strengthening, stakeholder collaboration, capacity building, resource conservation, product development, and marketing and promotion. His passion is inspired by the great potentials of tourism as a versatile tool for poverty reduction, supporting sustainable livelihoods, and local empowerment.
Douglas holds a Master of Arts degree in Community and Regional Planning, a Bachelor of Arts in Resource Conservation, and degrees in Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Tourism Marketing. He is also a certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute.
