Applying standards to sustain experience delivery
Speaker: Randy Durband – CEO, Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)
Setting and applying standards is a proven approach to ensure excellence in policy formulation and implementation. Sustainable tourism management for both the public sector in managing destinations and the private sector in managing their service-oriented operations requires the roadmaps provided by standards. But the value of standards goes well beyond planning. They are valuable tools for measuring and monitoring effectiveness and development progress. The GSTC Criteria are global baseline standards that serve as a framework for national and regional standards.
